Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award

In February 2011, Nicky Deasy was one of three finalists in the Social Entrepreneurship category for Connacht.This category is for businesses with a firm focus on addressing the social based challenges that we face today. Not motivated by profit, these entrepreneurs are recognised to have a strong social conscience and are inspired by achieving wider social objectives.

Mayor's Awards 2010

In January 2010, Nicky Deasy was nominated for a Mayor's Award which acknowledges outstanding people and organisations who, through their commitment to participating in unpaid community and voluntary activities, have made a significant impact on the quality of their communities in Galway City.

Young Volunteer of the Year Award 2010 at the Mayor’s Awards, Galway

Foundation Nepal’s development education programme with transition year students from Coláiste Iognáid (‘the Jes’) School in Galway has won the students the Young Volunteer of the Year Award at the Galway Mayor's Awards in January 2010. This award celebrates the voluntary work that young people under the age of 25 undertake in Galway City. Foundation Nepal began working with the students on development education in the autumn of 2009. A group of 13 students then decided to design, sell and distribute Christmas cards to raise funds for us. They ran an art competition in their school in November 2009, and the winning entry was used as the image on the Christmas cards. The students sold almost 2,000 cards, and secured shelf space in 10 shops in Galway. They used their own initiative in achieving this fantastic result, with very little help from Foundation Nepal.
 

Ireland InVOLved International Development Award

Volunteering Ireland, Ireland’s National Volunteer Development Agency, runs the Ireland InVOLved awards scheme to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Ireland’s volunteers. Foundation Nepal’s CEO & Director Nicky Deasy, who takes no remuneration for her full-time work, won an Ireland InVOLved award in the International Development category in November 2008. Along with the other finalists, Nicky went to meet President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, at her official residence, Áras and Uachtaráin, in January 2009.

Junior Chamber Ireland Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award

In June 2008, Foundation Nepal’s CEO & Director, Nicky Deasy, won Junior Chamber Ireland’s Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award in the Humanitarian Leadership category.
