Volunteers
Foundation Nepal’s work is supported by volunteers who help with a whole host of areas.

Shane Byrne graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Architecture. He recently gained his Part III qualification and is a member of the RIAI. He is passionate about creating low energy,
environmental and healthy forms of construction. His skills include 3D modelling, graphic design and project management.

Jamie Goggins is a lecturer in Civil Engineering at the National University of Ireland, Galway. One of his research interests is earthquake engineering. He has provided specialist seismic engineering advice in the design of several buildings located in regions of moderate to high seismicity, including Pakistan, Georgia, Russia and Turkey. He is a chartered engineer and has worked for engineering consultancies and contractors in Ireland, the UK and Australia.

Shane MacSweeney is managing partner with Galway law firm, MacSweeney & Company, a firm specialising primarily in the areas of employment law, corporate law, commercial disputes and debt recovery.
Shane obtained a BCL from UCC in 1991 and qualified as a solicitor in 1994. He also holds a post-graduate diploma in employment law from UCD. Before moving to his native Galway and establishing MacSweeney & Company in 2003, he was a partner with Dublin firm, Mason Hayes & Curran.

John Nolan - IT Volunteer
John Nolan is a Software Engineer with Irish Life Investment Managers. Prior to this, he worked for 4 and a half years as Database Developer for the Irish Cancer Society, focusing on automation, cost reduction and analytics.
John graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2007 with the Gold Medal of the University of Dublin, having studied Management Science & Information Systems. In 2009, he visited Nepal, trekking to Everest Base Camp.
